Rebecca Applin REBECCA APPLIN is a composer/lyricist for musical theatre and has written for many shows based on traditional tales, such as Robin Hood, Hansel and Gretel and Pinocchio. With writer Michael Caines, she has developed The Walpole Orange - a musical farce based on a Frank Muir comedy set in a gentlemen's club – and she is currently working on various projects, including one based on dark faery folklore.

Rebecca studied Music at Cambridge University and went on to do a Masters degree in Composition for Film at the Royal College of Music. Since then she has worked extensively in theatre, spending much of her time composing underscore for plays and Shakespeare productions. These have included Hercules at the Nuffield Theatre; Arabian Nights at Watford Palace Theatre; Two Brecht plays and Fable for the Nuffield Theatre; various productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream including at the Theatre Royal Bath; Twelfth Night; Much Ado About Nothing; Romeo and Juliet. She has worked for three seasons as resident composer for White Horse Theatre Company in Germany composing between five and twelve plays a season. Rebecca also has a broad experience in composing for youth theatres and has devised shows with YMT:UK and worked with Scottish Youth Theatre, Hertfordshire Youth Theatre and Hampshire Youth Theatre.

As well as being a huge admirer of Sondheim shows (like everyone else!) Rebecca also particularly enjoys Jason Robert Brown’s shows and the 'megamusical' genre.
